For years I had hunted just about every single chance I could go but this past season I just wasn’t feeling it until about the end of the season. I went hunting one evening with my dad and only saw a spike so that resulted in getting no deer that evening… well a week later, I went to the same place again, it was probably one of the coldest days we had. I had gotten down there later than I’d liked to, probably around 4:30pm and 40 minutes later around 5:10 he came walking out of the thicket to my left about 100 yards from me and facing broadways creating the perfect shot.
I didn’t have my gun ready like I usually do but he made the mistake in looking away from me long enough for me to get my gun up and get him in my scope to put him down right where he was standing with my Remington model 700 270. It wasn’t a monster of a buck but I’d say I done pretty darn good to get a buck at even that size for only hunting two days out of the whole season and getting it on the very last day of the season. Needless to say it ended up being a good season for me but next season there will be more hunting going on and more chances of getting a bigger buck and I can’t wait for it!
